Redline Media Plus – 25th Anniversary Meeting

Redline Media Plus – 25th Anniversary Meeting
25 years of Success Celebrated

The New South Wales Speedway Kart Club has been providing cost effective speedway karting to families for 25 years and last month the club came together to celebrate and enjoy all that the club has offered over that time. It is amazing over those years just how much the NSWSKC has contributed to the landscape of Australian speedway.

The club has been the learning centre for some of the States / Country’s great drivers , drivers like former Australian Litre Car Champion the late Scott Darley , former Australian Speedcar Champion Nathan Smee, Valvoline Raceway Sprintcar Track Champion Mitchell Dumesny, just to name a few along with drivers across all divisions seen every weekend at tracks across the country.

The meeting was set as a reunion day and whilst 70+ karters took to the track, across the day so many former members and a number of the Life members were all seen catching up telling yarns and just reminiscing of their time in the club while admiring what the current committee and members are achieving.

A huge thank you to those who brought other speedway divisions cars to put on show, to the Valvoline Raceway commentary team who had a challenge race on the track, to all the volunteers and officials out on the track who nearly melted during the day, to the canteen ladies who served up more food than normal and our lap scoring team who also sweltered in the trying conditions.

On track the action was as hot as the day (40+ degrees) and a credit to all drivers who competed in the conditions. The meeting saw 8 classes run on the day and all the detailed results can be found at https://karting.net.au/cms/results/view/.0 . However for each class the days results were on overall points and the hardware was handed to:

Cadet 9 Class:
KA: 1st Luke Angilley
Yamaha: 1st Kaylan Styles, 2nd Riley Ohlback, 3rd Leah Kelly

Cadet 12 Class:
KA: 1st Jac Laneyrie, 2nd James Angilley, 3rd Max Bevan
Yamaha: 1st Nathan Thompson, 2nd Joel Buettel, 3rd Tyler Burnham

Junior Class: (Also 1st round of the Junior Super Series)
KA: 1st Holly Cady, 2nd Chloe Angilley
Yamaha: 1st Brayden Shute, 2nd Andrew Sayre, 3rd Luke Geering

KA3 Senior (Clubman) Light: 1st Jake Baines, 2nd Matt Geering, 3rd Kaidon Brown

KA3 Senior (Clubman) Heavy: 1st Wayne Baines, 2nd Steve Hosie, 3rd Matt Elliott

Alert Finance 1000 - Round 6 Results

Alert Finance 1000
Race Results - Round 6.

Fans and drivers we’re treated to a hot day of racing at Kurri Kurri Speedway over the weekend.
All the main contenders for this year’s Club Championship where on hand to tackle the Kurri circuit.
Sunday was the second last round of the Club Championship and it was the last time the drivers would race at Kurri Kurri for
Season 2015.

The Juniors hit the track first and provided plenty of action.
It was a tight fight in both groups all day with the likes of Kyle Mock, Kaidon Brown, Brittany Hickey & Jake Donaldson fighting out for the KA class and a great battle between the Bailey Goodwin and Liam Walker in the Yamaha Class. Andrew Sayre had engine dramas all day but managed to borrow a motor for the feature and would go on to win the main event.

After the feature was run the round winners are as follow.
KA 100
1st Kaidon Brown
2nd Kyle Mock
3rd Brittany Hickey

Yamaha J
1st Bailey Goodwin
2nd Liam Walker
3rd Joshua Jackson

Feature Winner Andrew Sayre

KT Modified was the next to hit the track and once again provided close and exciting racing.
Current Aussie KT Light Champ Brad Cunneen was on hand and he must of inspired the rest of the field as they all lifted their game.
After all the racing was completed it was a recent member of the club who would claim the overall Victory.

KT Combined
1st Royden Alcorn
2nd Gary Morris
3rd Chris Keppie

Feature Winner Chris Keppie

Clubman Light and Clubman Heavy combined for this race meeting and put on a great show.
Australia 1 Matthew Elliott was a stand out in Clubman Heavy with Brian Hosie and Andrew Walkerden battling all day for the minor placings.
Recent Junior Zac Pacchiarotta showed he has found his groove by easily winning the KA Clubman Heavy Class.
Steve Hosie took out the Feature in the Light Class while young Zac put in a great effort to claim the feature win in the Heavy class.

Clubman Light
1st Steve Hosie
2nd Kara Lees

Feature Winner Steve Hosie

KA Clubman
1st Zac Pacchiarotta

Clubman Heavy
1st Matt Elliott
2nd Brian Hosie
3rd Andrew Walkerden

Feature Winner Zac Pacchiarotta

Once again the younger competitors showed up in force and some in the Cadet 12’s raced beyond their years.
New and old engines raced side by side in every race and the crowd really enjoyed watching the stars of tomorrow show the stuff.
Current Australian Champ James Angilley would prevail in the KA class while Connor Moreau would come out on top even after a late race penalty.
One of the drives of the day would have to go to Brayden Shute who led all but the last lap in the feature after what had been a tough day at the office for the former NSW Champion. He led until he left the door open for James Angilley to make the pass on the final lap.

Cadet KA
1st James Angilley
2nd Jac Laneyrie
3rd Chloe Angilley

Cadet Yamaha J
1st Connor Moreau
2nd Nathan Thompson
3rd Skye Loder

Feature Winner James Angilley

The Cadet 9 class showed that these young kids can go out there and have fun.
Max Bevan was the stand out once again taking victory in the Feature.

Cadet 9 KA
1st Max Bevan

Cadet 9
1st Luke Angilley
2nd Cooper Moodie.

Highest point scorer for the day went to Matt Elliott.

The final round of the Club Championship is back at the home of the NSWSKC at the Nepean raceway on Sunday the 15th November as we wrap up our 25th season of racing. NSWSKC would like to thank all their Sponsors and the Volunteers that help the club.
Anyone looking to try their hand at speedway kart racing should .contact the NSWSKC Secretary at nswkarts@gmail.com

Statewide Forklifts Shootout

Sunday the 20th of September NSWSKC held Round 5 of their Club Championship,

Only one day after the hugely successful Australian Title.

Our partners Statewide Forklifts Sponsored this event and we are grateful for Steve & Lou Pacchiarotta

And their Continued support of our club.

From humble beginnings in 1999 Lou began working from his garage at home providing mobile servicing & repairs (onsite only).
2015 Australian Speedway Title One Big Success

On the weekend the NSWSKC hosted the 2015 Scott & Co Accountants Australian Speedway Kart Title.

The beautifully prepared Kurri Kurri Speedway is where this year’s Title would take place & it certainly did live up to the high expectations that both the Club, competitors and spectators had for this historic event.

This is the first time the NSWSKC had hosted an Australian Title away from the clubs traditional home of Nepean Speedway.

The best Speedway kart drivers in the Country had assembled at Kurri allowing the crowd on the hill to see some of the most thrilling and emotional charged racing that has ever taken place at this great track.

There were 9 divisions on hand at the 2015 event and all of the classes put on a great spectacle for the crowd. After 3 intense heat races it was time for the all important Title races and you could cut the air with a knife as nerves and expectations where on all teams and drivers faces.

The Over 40s was the first group out and set the standard pretty high as it was a well fought out Title. After the 20 lap final the #11 of Matt Elliott would take the flag and become the Australian Champion for 2015. Following home in 2nd and 3rd where team mates Peter Archer and Phillip Farrow.

Above: Over 40s winner Matt Elliott

The biggest class of the weekend were next on track that being the Junior light category. This race had it all, hard charger Kyle Mock had what seemed an unassailable lead at half distance, only to see that taken away trying to pass a lapped kart which resulted in seeing young Kyle lose his lead to Liam Camilleri.

Kyle had dropped back to 4th place after the contact but was able to refocus and race his way back to 3rd place by the end. Liam would go onto record a popular win and would claim the Green plate for 2015. Final standings 1st Liam Camilleri 2nd Kaidon Brown 3rd Kyle Mock.

Above: Junior Light podium

Clubman Light was pretty much a flag to flag win for last year’s Junior Heavy champ Matt Geering. Matt’s only real challenger came from the #68 of Jake Baines but Jake had engine dramas on lap 3 which sent him to the infield,
leaving Steve Hosie and Mitch Brien to fight over the remaining podium Spots.

While racing for 2nd Mitch and an issue and retired from the race leaving Garry Morris to take over 3rd place. Matt Geering would greet the flag ahead of Steve Hosie 2nd and Gary Morris 3rd.

Above: Clubman Light winner Matt Geering

KT Modified Heavy was a cracker of a race which saw one of the drivers of the Titles with Late Model driver
Katelyn Hickey coming from P5 on lap one to take an impressive win. A great scrap for 2nd took place with both William Lucas and Peter Mc Kenzie racing hard wheel to wheel. They would race hard like that for the last 10 laps with William just edging out Peter by 7 tenths of a second. Final standings 1st Katelyn Hickey 2nd William Lucas 3rd Peter McKenzie.

Above: KT Modified Heavy podium

The youngest competitors of the day, the Cadet 12 class, was next on track and probably had the closest finish of all. William Millerd Stevens lead for 16 of the 20 laps only to be passed with 4 to go by fast guy #16 James Angilley. Braden Shute put on a stellar drive as well coming from deep in the pack to a well earned 3rd place in the final. The top 3 were only covered by 0.500 of a second. Final Standings 1st James Angilley 2nd William Millerd –Stevens 3rd Bradon Shute.

Above: Cadet 12 podium

Next up was the Sportsman class which had last year’s Champion Ayden Elliott up against former Champ Jonno Bright. This race was of high attrition with many karts breaking down due to the pace of this race. The #27 machine of Jonathon Bright would go on to greet the chequered flag resulting him becoming Australia 1 again. Ayden Elliott fought hard but would have to settle for 2nd place.

Above: Sportsman

Junior National Heavy was up next which had some of the quickest Juniors in the Country vying to take the #1 for 2015. Pole man Kaidon Brown was penalised for two jump starts resulting in him dropping back to P5 which then left Kyle Mock and Jake Donaldson on the front row.

Jake & Kyle went into turn one side by side but it would be Jake Donaldson who come out the other side in the lead. Kaidon Brown had quickly made his way into 3rd. The top 3 didn’t change for the rest of the race as Jake would go on to record his 2nd Australian title following last year’s win in Lights.

Kyle raced hard and would cap off a great weekend finishing on the podium in both Light and Heavy. Kaidon chased Kyle home all the way and like Kyle would finish on both podiums. Final Standings 1st Jake Donaldson 2nd Kyle Mock 3rd Kaidon Brown.

Above: Junior Heavy podium

Clubman Heavy had some controversy with the #17 of Nick Gilbert being DSQ after the event which then left Over 40s winner Matt Elliott to take out the Australian Tile in the Heavy class. Final Standings had 1st Matt Elliott 2nd William Lucas 3rd Anthony Eason.

Above: Clubman Heavy podium

Last but not least was the KT Modified Lights which had plenty of action. Former Champ Donald Stevens had earlier in the day watched his son earn a podium result and he didn’t want to miss out himself! Donald lead the race until lap 15 of 20 when winner of the Heavy class, Katelyn Hickey, went for a pass for the lead. Contact was made which resulted in both Donald and Katelyn being passed by eventual winner Brad Cunneen.

It was great to see Donald Stevens approach Katelyn after the event stating that he would have gone for the pass as well. Final Standing for the KT Light 1st Brad Cunneen 2nd Donald Stevens 3rd Katelyn Hickey.

Above: KT Modified Light podium

So with that we see another Australian Title in the books. The Club would like to congratulate all the winners and competitors on what will go down as one of the best blue ribbon events so far.

The NSWSKC would also like to thank all the Officials and volunteers for their efforts in making these events possible. They would also like to thank all the team at Kurri Kurri Speedway who had gone out of their way to help make this race meeting a success.

The NSWSKC thanks all their partners: Wescranes. Valvoline Raceway. Hoosier Race Tires. Homebush Karts. Paformance Engines. State Wide Forklifts. Alert Finance.
Season 2014 Comes To A Close This Sunday

This weekend the New South Wales Speedway Kart Club will run for the final time in season 2014, as Valvoline Raceway presents The Nationals, the 7th round of the 2014 Club Championship at Nepean Raceway.

After racing is complete, everyone is encouraged to stay, as the club will be putting on a barbeque to celebrate what has been a tremendous season. Not only that, but at presentation at the end of the day, there will be a free race entry drawn for each class, so much sure you’re there for your chance to win.

It has been a year where the New South Wales Speedway Kart Club ventured onto new ground, conducting the first ever race meeting at Kurri Kurri Speedway. Back on May 4, the club made history, as it hosted the first event outside of Nepean Raceway since 2002. A month later, the New South Wales State Titles were held at the venue, which saw the crowing of some new state champions.

As per usual, the weather has played its part, and it wasn’t until the first meeting at Kurri Kurri (May 4) where a full day of racing could be enjoyed.

This weekend, all the hard work of everyone in the club culminates into the final round of season 2014 at Nepean Raceway. Championships are on the line in every class, so points are crucial throughout the course of the day.

All six classes will be competing on Sunday, in three heat races before a final. Trophies will be based on the finishing positions in the final. So it should prove fascinating, as some drivers may choose to play it safe, look for points and hope they claim the championship for this season. Or they may decide put it all on the line and go for a feature race win as well. With so much on the line come Sunday, the racing is expected to be very tense and exciting.

Also a reminder that the clubs presentation evening will be on the 14th of December so get your tickets now. This will be a fantastic event to see all our class champions crowned along with other awards.

Racing will kick off at 10am sharp on Sunday morning. It’s $5 entry for adults while kids get in free. All canteen facilities will be open. You can find Nepean Raceway on Rickards Road, Castlereagh.

Round 3 Race Report

Under perfect skies the NSWSKC were finally able to put the previously rain effected “Statewide Forklifts Masters “ Round 3 of the Club Championship in the books for 2014 with some very entertaining racing.

The Pa-Formance Motors Sponsored Cadet class were first to hit the track with Brayden Shute picking up a solid Heat 1 win. Heat 2 will be a race to remember for Halle Boyd (Not to mention Mum and Dad) taking the checkers in her first ever race win in her first season of racing. Jac Laneyrie continues to impress and he took the win in Heat 3. The Feature Race was as always a good hard battle right to the very end with Sophie Coghlan leading the first 18 laps until Brayden Shute and James Angilley capitalized on an error and passed Sophie with 2 to go. The Podium at days end looked like this once all points had been tallied - 1st Jac Laneyrie 2nd James Angilley 3rd Brayden Shute.

The Rookies proudly sponsored by Karting World and Sayre Racing were next up with Luke Geering showing us why he is so good across the country in all forms of karting with 3 Heat wins. The Feature race started well for Luke until his kart slowed and pulled infield on lap 17. Payton Coghlan had been battling hard with Ethan Rietdyk and Liam Walker throughout the race and she managed to hang on for her first feature race win in Rookies and also topping the podium with Liam Walker 2nd and Ethan Rietdyk 3rd.

Emily Coghlan in her 1st race in the Rookie class

Craig and Anna Geering from C&A Mobile are the proud Sponsors of the hotly contested Junior class and today was no exception. Kaidon Brown raced to a convincing Heat 1 win and in Heat 2 Jake Donaldson would cross the striker 1st, Not to be upstaged Marcus Dumesny took the win in Heat 3. The feature race was a tough race and with a class so full of young talent each driver would have to be at their best. Kaidon cleared the traffic early and got himself into space with Marcus only too keen to chase him down with hard charging lady driver Kayla Green hot on their heels circulating just above lap record pace. This is the way they would finish and the podium after the days points were counted looked like this 1st Marcus Dumesny 2nd Kaidon Brown 3rd Jake Donaldson.

Brothers Luke and Andrew Sayre in the Junior Class

Next on track we had the Hoppings Mowers proudly sponsored Clubman Light class. Numbers have been down in this class of late but the remaining drivers offer some fantastic racing with Jason Woodward, Alana Onley and Jake Baines all claiming a heat race win and Jason Woodward taking the victory in the Feature race. It must be noted that Jake Baines lowered the previous lap record from 19.614 down to his new time of 18.836. The Clubman Light podium for today was Jake Baines 1st Jason Woodward 2nd and Alana Onley 3rd.

Jason “Bobby” Woodward Clubman Light

Clubman Heavy were the next to take to the 400 metre raceway and we would like to thank Dean’s Tyre and Brake for their continued support of this class. Joel Robertson was the man to beat today and Matt Elliot was the only man to beat him out of the 3 heats and that was in Heat 2. The feature race was a cracker and once again Joel was too good for his opposition with Matt Elliot following him home and a very fast finishing Antony Eason in 3rd. These positions stayed the same when the trophies were awarded at the end of the day. The last on track was the Wescranes sponsored KT Modified combined class and with quite a few DNF’s throughout the day this really has become a wide-open race for the championship. Heat races went to James Melling, Matt Ferguson and Mitch Obrien and the Feature race was taken out in a very dominant performance by Ashleigh Jack from Brad Giffen and Matt Ferguson. The Podium was Ashleigh Jack 1st Matt Ferguson 2nd and Mitch Obrien 3rd.

Mitch Obrien KT Modified

Ontrack Automotive Awards

Luke Angilley

Emily Coghlan

Ryan Smith

Alana Onley

Andrew Walkerden

Kaitelyn Hickey

Encouragement Award

Jacob Wray

Highest Points Award

Ashleigh Jack

Special mention

Special mention to our only Formula 100 driver on the day and in typical fashion Donald Stevens has won every race even breaking the existing track record for Formula 100.

We would like to thank Statewide Forklifts for their valued support of this round and our club and all the other club sponsors that continue to support this nursery for the stars, as we wouldn’t exist without you all. We also would like to thank all officials and volunteers for their efforts in making this a great day of Speedway karting. Look forward to seeing you all at Nepean Raceway on 23rd November for Round 6.
