Racing Returns To Nepean

Posted by NSWSKC on 18 October 2014

It has been close to four months since the New South Wales Speedway Kart Club last completed a full day of racing. This Sunday, it’s time to brush off the cobwebs and get set to go racing again, as the Tony Ball Painting Services re-run of round 2 launches into action.

Tony Ball specialises in all things painting, for any of your painting needs, make you get in touch with Tony at the track this weekend. Tony Ball joined the scene of Speedway Karting at the start of this season and already loves getting dirty out on the racetrack.

Seven classes of Speedway Karts will take to the Nepean Raceway dirt this Sunday from 10am. New South Wales Title holder Brayden Shute leads the Cadets Championship heading into this weekends round. Hot on his rear bar though will be drivers such as Halle Boyd, Taylor Blanch, Jac Laneyrie and Sophie Coghlan. Cadets has produced so amazing racing already this season, often the top 5 are nose to tail showing so of the older drivers how it’s DONE!

Luke Geering currently leads the club championship in the Rookies class. Recently crowned Australian Champion Zak Blanch will be very strong come Sunday morning. Other ones to watch out for include, Connor Moreau, Holly Cady, Liam Walker and Ethan Rietdyk.

When it comes to competition in 2014, there has been nothing more competitive than the Juniors. These young future stars push the limit and continually show how bright the future of Speedway Racing looks in Australia with their amazing talent. The championship battle is awfully tight, current Australian champion Jake Donaldson leads on 327 points, but behind him, Kaidon Brown and Luke Sayre are both within 16 points. Other drivers that are set to be strong are, Kayla Green, Taylor Coghlan, Brandon Moore, Bailey Goodwin, Brittany Hickey, Marcus Dumesny and Liam Camilleri.

Jake Baines has been out in front all season in Clubman Light. Alana Onley has been challenging Baines all season and will hope to steal the round win away from him this weekend. In the heavier class, Joel Robertson has been a clear standout this season enjoying a brilliant 2014 season. Matt Elliott, Laurie McDougall and Matthew Angilley are just some of the men hoping to grab a win this Sunday.

KT Combined always brings the fans to the fence and this Sunday is set to be no different on Sunday. And enormous amount of drivers are expected to take part again in the class. Numerous of drivers have been strong throughout the course of the season, but with 7 drivers all within 100 points for the number 1 spot in the championship, you can expect that the competition is going to be very tough. James Melling currently leads on points, but drivers such as, Brad Cunneen, Peter McKenzie and Greg Coghlan will all be ones to look out for.

Racing will kick off at 10am sharp on Sunday morning. It’s $5 entry for adults while kids get in free. All canteen facilities will be open. You can find Nepean Raceway on Rickards Road, Castlereagh.
